First and foremost, I am a writer. I use language and essays to understand the world around me, test my own thoughts and beliefs, and communicate my ideas and experiences. In the day, I work at Embarcadero Media Foundation on email newsletters and data analytics.
At night, I’m a part-time gallery assistant at TIAT, an art gallery in San Francisco that features the works of creative technologists. I am also a nonprofit board member of Students Publishing Company, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that sits above The Daily Northwestern and the campus’s Yearbook-Syllabus.
In 2023, Medill named my essay “Live on air… or lies on air: How CNN’s town hall with former President Trump hurt more than it helped” the winner of its Howell Essay Contest. That year, the Headline Club of Chicago awarded me its Les Brownlee Memorial Scholarship, and Nieman Lab at Harvard University asked me to contribute to its annual Predictions for Journalism series.
In 2022, ProPublica selected me as an Emerging Reporter, and the Society of Professional Journalists named me a finalist in Breaking News Writing and Column Writing. The Illinois College Press Association also awarded me first and second place in Headline Writing.
I read. And I write. I ice skate. And I volunteer as an adoptions counselor at a senior dog shelter. I like attending SF Opera. Here are the things I’ve consumed.
